The effect of ultrafine kaolinite aggregation on the performance of quartz cationic flotation

This work presents a study on the interference of kaolinite particles, smaller than 10 µm, in performance cationic flotation quartz. The surface properties control effects heteroaggregation and provide creation coverage these ultrafine coarser particle surfaces (slime coating), which makes it difficult for collectors to adsorb and/or contact air bubbles. experiments revealed that etheramine collector used is capable recovering 76.9% absence coarse quartz particles. On other hand, results carried out with binary mixture (quartz −150 + 45 µm ultrafines −6 µm) presence same reagent system showed floats together depending content suspension. Micrographs from MEV/EDS heterocoagulation between particles formation hydrophobic agglomerates can be recovered flotation.
